At approximately 3:30pm on July 3, a Morgan Hill Police officer made a vehicle code violation stop off of Highway 101 in Morgan Hill. During the stop, the officer smelled marijuana and initiated a search of the vehicle and its two occupants. During the search, arresting officer Steve Pennington located three ounces of cocaine under one of the car’s seats, as well as a small amount of marijuana. The driver and passenger were arrested for possession, sale and transportation of a controlled substance, and were later booked into the Main County Jail in San Jose. Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said that the three ounces of cocaine seized was considered “quite a bit,” with a street value of around $3,000.

Sunday July 6, 2008—Three Arrested in Gang Fight at Morgan Hill Aquatics Center
At approximately 4:00pm July 6, police officers responded to a report of a gang fight at the Aquatics Center on Condit Road in Morgan Hill. Several gang members had forced their way through the Aquatics Center’s turnstiles without paying, and proceeded to launch an attack on other gang members already inside the center. Police said that the men entered the center with the sole intent of starting the confrontation. Many of the suspects involved in the fight had already fled by the time police arrived. Morgan Hill Police officers Scott Silva, Max Cervantes and Cpl. Mindy Zen arrested three men for misdemeanor fighting in public. They were later released on citation. Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said that this incident was another indicator of Morgan Hill’s rising problem with gang related crime.
