Vintners Showcase Will Feature Celebrity-Signed Bottles of Wine for Charity

Rotary Club of Morgan Hill Golf Classic, a major charity tournament in its 15th year in the South Valley, will debut a post-event “Vintners Showcase.” The Showcase includes dinner and will feature wine tasting and an opportunity to win dozens of fine wines signed by celebrities such as Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates and San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Alex Smith. Both events will be held Friday, Sept. 12 at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister.
“We’re excited about featuring some of our region’s premier wines,” said Golf Classic Chair Del Foster, “and the celebrity-signed bottles will be our new twist for the tournament.”
Foster said the celebrity-signed bottles will be raffled off, and only 100 $100 raffle tickets will be sold. The all-day tournament, long a favorite of local golfers, features a shotgun start, putting green and driving range contests, and two hole-in-one contests. Proceeds benefit Rotary’s service projects and charitable giving supporting local charities and youth programs. This year Rotary Club of Morgan Hill awarded 20 college scholarships to Morgan Hill students.
Major sponsors for the tournament include Johnson Lumber, Rusconi, Foster & Thomas, APC., and Reinhardt, Newquist and Potts Advisory. Participating wineries include Guglielmo, Sycamore Creek, Solis and Mann Cellars. Early-Bird Registration for golfers is $180, increasing to $200 after Aug. 31 and includes both event. Non-golfers can buy Vintners Showcase tickets for $45.
Sponsorship opportunities for both events are still available. For more information or to register, call 408-779-2106, e-mail golf@morganhillrotary.org, or visit the Morgan Hill Rotary web site, www.morganhillrotary.org.
